Privacy policy
Before You Cart is a read-only website. This page explains the small amount of data involved in visiting it.
What we collect
- No accounts, no forms, no newsletter. We don’t ask for your name, email or any personal details.
- A simple visitor log. When a page loads, a small script on our own server records the page address, the page you came from (the referrer), your browser’s user-agent string and your IP address. We look up an approximate location (country, region and city) and network provider for that IP address using the ip-api.com service. We use this to see which pages people read and how they found us, and to block abusive or automated traffic.
- No cookies from us. This site doesn’t set its own cookies. The visitor script stores a short-lived note in your browser’s session storage so the same page isn’t counted twice in one visit; it is deleted when you close the tab.
- No advertising trackers. We don’t run Google Analytics, ad pixels or cross-site tracking, and we don’t sell visitor data.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our web host keeps standard server logs, including IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used for security and troubleshooting and are kept according to the host’s retention settings.
Fonts
Our fonts load from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google’s servers to download them, which shares your IP address with Google. See Google’s privacy policy for how it handles that data.
Amazon links
When you click a link to Amazon, you leave our site. Amazon may set cookies to record that you came from Before You Cart, which is how affiliate commissions are credited. That data is collected and controlled by Amazon under Amazon’s Privacy Notice (opens in a new tab), not by us.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If our practices change, for example if we add Google Analytics, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
